French Breakfast Puffs
Bake 350, 20-25 min. Makes 12.
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
In mixer bowl, cream together the first 1/2 cup of sugar, the shortening and the egg. Sift together four, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alterntely with milk, beating well in after each addition. Fill 12 greased muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 min.
Topping
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
6 TBSP melted butter
Combine the sugar and cinnamon. Remove muffins from oven; immediately dip muffins in melted butter, then in the cinnamon-sugar mixture til covered. Serve warm. Makes 12 muffins.
